Ferrari Purosangue Expert Review
Abhishek Katariya says
The Purosangue is Ferrari’s first-ever high-riding SUV with an all-wheel drive and four doors, making it a landmark product for the iconic Italian brand known for its high-performance supercar. Based on the same platform as that of the Roma two-door sports coupe, the Ferrari Purosangue is a true sports car under its skin with a naturally-aspirated V12 engine and rivals the likes of other high-performance SUVs like the Aston Martin DBX and Lamborghini Urus.

Ferrari Purosangue Interior & Features
On opening the front and uniquely hinged rear doors, the Ferrari Purosangue welcomes one with its meticulously crafted cabin, which is high on tech and premium appeal. This is the first four-door Ferrari SUV, which means that it has the practicality of seating four passengers at best, with ample room for both front and rear seat passengers.
The dashboard of the Ferrari Purosangue is inspired by the wings of a butterfly, having humped designs on either side. Talking about the driver’s cockpit first, the Purosangue gets a three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, which like every other modern Ferrari, has various controls for many functions of the car, including a start-stop button and drive mode selector. The 10.25-inch full-TFT screen behind the steering wheel serves as the instrument console, featuring Ferrari’s tradition of displaying a tachometer in the middle. The steering wheel also gets massive paddle shifters behind it.
The centre console of the dashboard of the Ferrari Purosangue has a very minimalist design, with a layered panel incorporating only a touch-controlled panel with a rotary knob for the automatic climate control. The hump over the dashboard on the co-driver side houses the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is incorporated with all the modern connectivity options and display for the reversing camera. Both the hump housings on the sides of the dashboard have AC vents on their sides. The Purosangue also gets more comfort and convenience features never seen on a Ferrari, such as electrically adjustable front and rear seats with heating and ventilation functions.
Purosangue Exterior
Unlike other Ferrari sports cars and supercars, the Purosangue has a higher ride height and a proper set-up of four doors, giving it the traits of an SUV. However, like all the other Ferrari models, the Purosangue also has a curvaceous and aerodynamic design with an Italian flair, which makes it an unmistakably Ferrari product.
Like other Ferrari supercars, the Purosangue also misses out on a sizable grille at the front, but in its place, it gets a dihedral air dam on the lower section over the front bumper. The corners of the front fascia on the lower edges of the bonnet have C-shaped housings, which serve as air ducts and also come integrated with daytime running LED strips. A pair of sleek all-LED headlamps are placed on the front bumper, on the upper edges of the dihedral air dam. Even the corners of the front bumper have air ducts, below the placement of the headlamps.
The side profile of the Ferrari Purosangue might remind many of the Ferrari FF, due to its fastback-inspired styling, with a less-curvaceous C-pillar and rear windscreen. The front fenders here have triangular passages for airflow, while the Purosangue has 22-inch alloy wheels at the front and 23-inch alloy wheels at the rear. These alloy wheels, wrapped with low-profile tyres, have gloss black wheel arch mouldings over them. The Purosangue also has curvy-shaped door panels and a C-pillar, with the rear doors being hinged at the back, giving it a Rolls-Royce-esquee opening and closing pattern.
At the back, the Ferrari Purosangue has a traditional Ferrari essence in its look, with it getting a functional rear windscreen sitting above an aerodynamic boot lid, which has a sweptback design for the LED combination tail lamps having air passages below their outer part. The Purosangue also has a massive rear diffuser over the rear bumper, which has dual exhaust ports on either side.
Ferrari Purosangue Ride & Handling
Having the first active suspension technology for a Ferrari model, the Purosangue is provided with the 4RM-S all-wheel drive system. Inspired by the system offered on the 812 Competizione, this all-wheel drive technology has been tuned for a faster axle response in the Purosangue, making it more dynamic and responsive. As expected, the Ferrari Purosangue also has driving modes on offer, which offer decent stability and driving prowess over rougher surfaces, but don’t expect the Purosangue to be unstoppable over tougher surfaces like sand, snow or mud.
Purosangue Engine & Fuel Consumption
Ferrari is all about the engines, and the Purosangue hasn’t diverted from the tradition of Ferrari’s flagship of offering a V12 engine. Here, the 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12 engine has a front mid-mounted placement and is paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The engine is capable of producing a maximum power output of 725 PS and a peak torque output of 716 Nm, with it enabling the Purosangue to attain a top speed of 311 kmph and do the 0-100 kmph sprint in 3.3 seconds.
Ferrari Purosangue Braking & Safety
Besides having the essentials on board like airbags all around, ABS with EBD, traction control, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree parking camera and hill start assist, the Ferrari Purosangue also has an expansive suite of ADAS features on offer, such as automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, auto high beam, blind spot detection, lane keeping assist, traffic sign recognition, rear-cross traffic alert and driver drowsiness and detection.
Purosangue Verdict
The Ferrari Purosangue has to be the most practical Ferrari model ever, with the ease and comfort of seating four passengers in utmost luxury. At the same time, it is a thoroughbred Ferrari in the first place, offering uncompromised performance and driving pleasure with high-intensity dynamism.
