Volkswagen to reveal SUV Coupe concept at 2024 Beijing Auto Show

ABU DHABI: Volkswagen released a teaser for an upcoming design study that is all set to debut at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show. Tailored specifically for China, this unnamed concept, offers an insight into the new design language that might influence future VW models.

The shadowy image gives a hint that the new concept car will have a streamlined five-door silhouette, suggesting a shooting brake style or a sporty estate with an aerodynamic roofline and long hood. Though ground clearance and wheel details have not been disclosed, the pronounced fenders and tail shape hint at a low-slung SUV coupe. Additional teasers highlight a three-dimensional effect with high-tech LEDs.

Volkswagen's design operations officials in Wolfsburg, Germany, have not disclosed anything about the size and features of their new concept car. However, they have hinted that they are trying their best to deliver future electric vehicles with modern aesthetics and enhanced visual flair for the Chinese market compared to existing models such as the ID.5, ID.4, and Chinese-exclusive ID.6.

The words "design a new era" accompany the concept car’s image suggesting a broader implication beyond a single model. This represents a shift towards establishing a unified visual identity across different vehicles, aligning with the future direction of Volkswagen in innovation and automotive design.

The unnamed concept represents the second preview of Volkswagen in 2024. Before this, Volkswagen released a similarly shadowy picture of a brand new Chinese-market SUV, developed in partnership with Xpeng Motors, to generate interest and anticipation before their unveiling at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show.
