Volkswagen teases A0 compact SUV ahead of global launch
ABU DHABI: Volkswagen has dropped a teaser for its new compact SUV, which will become the smallest SUV produced by the brand globally. It has been positioned beneath the T-Cross/ Taigun in the brand’s lineup and is expected to debut in 2025. The SUV is anticipated to be named the ‘Volkswagen Yeh’ and will be available for sale in Brazil initially.

Volkswagen’s new compact SUV will be based on the MQB-A0 platform.Internally it will be called the Volkswagen A0 SUV and will most likely be based on the Skoda Kylaq. It is based on the MQB-A0 platform and its architecture is similar to the T-Cross, Polo, and Nivus. Volkswagen’s Virtus and Taigun, along with Skoda’s Slavia and Kushaq, utilize a modified MQB A0 platform. The upcoming Skoda Kylaq will also utilize this platform.
The new Volkswagen A0 compact SUV has an approximately 2.5-meter wheelbase and around 4 metres in length. While its official name has not been revealed, it has been hinted that it will bear a five-letter name. It will embody the global design language of Volkswagen and showcase a taller bumper, a connected tail lamp, and a slimmer front grille setup. In the teaser, a coupe-like roofline has been revealed for the new SUV.
Volkswagen has not disclosed engine specifications, but it is expected that the new model will be equipped with a 1.0-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol engine that is also present in the Volkswagen Tiguan, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Virtus, and Skoda Slavia. It will be available in both torque and manual converter automatic transmission options.
