Volkswagen reveals the all-new three-row Tayron SUV
ABU DHABI: Volkswagen has unveiled the Tayron, its latest three-row SUV, in the global market. This model is anticipated to be the new-generation Tiguan’s extended variant that will replace in the lineup the Tiguan Allspace. As this vehicle’s second generation, the Tayron bridges the gap between the larger Touareg and Tiguan. It boasts advanced technology, additional size, and four powertrain options that perfectly cater to a diverse range of consumers.

The new Volkswagen Tayron is available in four powertrain options including pure petrol, mild-hybrid petrol, a diesel, and petrol plug-in hybrid (PHEV) with varying power outputs.The new Volkswagen Tayron adds an extra 198 liters of boot space and 231mm for a third row of seats. However, due to its 19.7kWh battery placement, the PHEV variant doesn’t accommodate seven seats. This results in 18 liters less boot capacity in comparison to the 885 liters in the standard five-seater.
Inside, it comes with a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, with a 15-inch head-up display that you get as an option. Additionally, the Tayron comes with ADAS features such as Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Autonomous Emergency Braking.
The new Volkswagen Tayron is available in four powertrain options including pure petrol, mild-hybrid petrol, a diesel, and petrol plug-in hybrid (PHEV) with varying power outputs. The lineup begins with a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol mild-hybrid that produces 150 hp. You can then buy a 2.0-liter turbo petrol with 265 hp or 204 hp, available in four-wheel or front-drive. The 2.0-liter turbo diesel is offered in 193 hp or 150 hp versions. The latter features 4Motion 4WD of VW. All variants are mated with a seven-speed automatic dual-clutch gearbox. The PHEV combines an electric motor with a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, offering 272 hp or 204 hp and over 100 km electric-only range, supported by a 19.7 kWh battery that can be charged at up to 50 kW DC.
The new Volkswagen Tayron is expected to be launched early next year in March 2025, though prices have not been confirmed yet. The additional interior space will most likely lead to a higher price tag in comparison to the Tiguan.
