Toyota’s new Corolla wagon to debut at Paris Motor Show 2018
ABU DHABI: Wagon cars have been a popular choice among people and as a result, we see a lot of new models coming up regularly. Toyota has now announced that it would be bringing a new vehicle in this segment in the form of the Corolla wagon.
This new wagon will be a more practical car and is based on the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture), besides being the second body style that the Corolla has embraced in its 12th generation. It will be called the Corolla Touring Sports and will make its first public appearance at the Paris Motor Show this year.
As a result of the TNGA platform, Toyota will not have to make specific Corolla models based on the regions. As for the 11th generation, the company had three different versions of the car, one for Asia and Europe, one for North America and one specially built model for the Japanese market, where it was called the Fielder (sedan) and Axio (wagon).
Toyota hasn’t revealed many details about this new Corolla wagon. As a matter of fact, since the company is focused on making electric, hydrogen and hybrid cars, it is most unlikely that the new Corolla will get a diesel powerplant. That said, it has even been announced that the wagon model to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show would be a hybrid version. Even the sedan would be getting the hybrid motor in some countries.
Toyota is silent on any further details for any of the body styles, even the styling. However, we can expect the front design to be similar to the Corolla hatchback that was displayed earlier. Going by the company’s timeline, all the models are expected to be ready by 2019.
