Porsche conducted a demo run of Taycan prototype in Shanghai
ABU DHABI: Porshe Taycan will be making its appearance in three forms on three continents over three weeks, each representing essential markets for Porche’s first all-electric model. Taycan will be driven by Porsche Carrera Cup Asia one-make series driver, Li Chao for a demonstration run.
Porshe claimed that the Taycan is capable of achieving 0-100 kmph in less than 3.5 seconds, 0-200 kmph in under 12 seconds and a top speed of over 250 kmph. This all-electric car will come with a livery as a unique tribute to each country hosting it. The vehicle at the event hosted in Shanghai will have a dragon graphic on its roof.
The Taycan’s demo run hosted in China was held on the 1.4 km-long handling circuit at the Porsche Experience Centre in Shanghai, which is situated by the 5.5 km Shanghai International Circuit. This event will be followed by participation in the Hill Run at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which will be driven by Porsche ambassador and former Formula 1 driver Mark Webber.
Moving to the powertrain, a pair of permanently synchronous electric motors will be equipped in the Taycan, which is capable of churning out a total system output of more than 600 PS and a range of 500km can be expected from the 800 V electrical architecture. It will support fast-charging, and a 4-min quick charge will render a range of almost 100km. It is likely to hit the market in three trim levels, Base, 4S, Turbo.
By the time Taycon makes its debut in September, it will have covered over six million km in development mileage. Porshe stated that electric vehicles would undergo the same rigorous testing programme and justifying of everyday usability in all climates.
