New Toyota Corolla Touring Sport showcased at the Paris Motor Show
ABU DHABI: At the ongoing 2018 Paris Motor Show, Toyota revealed the all-new Corolla Touring Sport. With this car, the company revives its old wagon nameplate which was called the Auris. Prior to this, Toyota unveiled the Corolla hatchback at this year's New York International Motor Show.
With the unveiling of the wagon, the rumors of Corolla lineup extension has finally come to rest. We now have a sedan, hatch, and wagon version of Corolla on board. The big question however is, will the wagon come to the UAE? Well, the chances of it are rear seeing the low sale of station wagons in the past.
Here’s all you need to know about the 2018 Toyota Corolla Touring Sport -
- The Touring Sports wagon is underpinned by Toyota New Global Architecture GA-C platform
- Similar to its hatch sibling, powering it is a 1.2-litre petrol engine generating 117 PS of power. Also added in the list are two hybrid options - a 181 PS churning 2.0-litre and 1.8-litre mill developing 123 PS
- The front design is copied from the recently revealed Corolla hatch, and it’s beyond the B-pillar that one can notice its unique aesthetics
- Both the headlamp and taillights feature an all-LED cluster with the former set including DRL. The front fog lamps too feature LED units
- The Corolla wagon sports a spacious cabin. The company says it is made possible by the instrument panel design that’s now slimmer by 24 mm
- With all seats in place, the boot capacity of the Touring Sport is 598-litre. The hands-free kick tailgate sensor calls for easy access
- The deck under space is now enlarged and fully carpeted, it features detachable side separators. Also, as claimed by Toyota, the load space now features the world’s first LED compartment lights
- The instrumentation panel comes with a three-dimension mode with this effect the details appear to float in mid-air
- The package also includes visual instrumentation that projects driver-related information unto the windscreen
- An 8-inch Toyota Touch Multimedia System takes care of entertainment needs. The display screen supports pinch, slide, and zoom touch options
- The one-touch eCall service is supported by the inbuilt SIM card, and this allows the owner to perform a call for free at the time of need
- Like the Corolla hatch, the Touring Sport also features connected services like Sent-to-Car navigation, driving analytics, Last Mile guidance, Find My Car, and maintenance reminder
- The 2019 Toyota Corolla, Touring Sports body style, is now available in eleven color options in total. The four additional shades were announced at the unveiling - Phantom Brown, Oxide Bronze Metallic, Precious Silver, and Emotional Red 2
Overall the new Touring Sports seems like a fantastic car, especially looking at its intimidating feature list. Hope it makes it to the UAE soon.
