New Porsche 911 showcased at 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show

ABU DHABI: Porsche has officially revealed the brand new Porsche 911 at the ongoing 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. The vehicle has been given a new and muscular look along with improved high-tech features making it better than its predecessor. Earlier this month, the automaker had leaked some photos of the brand new sports car.

The brand new Porsche 911 also gets the 'teardrop' shape, same as the previous model. But the new sports car comes with a much more aerodynamic design and is also wider than the outgoing 911. The car rides on 20-inch front wheels and 21-inch rear wheels. A lower and angled LED Matrix headlights are placed perfectly at the front and the hood also gets a new design which resembles the design of the first-generation 911. Most of the modifications have been made at the rear. The vehicle features a brand new rear bumper and a new rear spoiler. A singular horizontal taillight design completes the rear profile.

Get inside the car and there is a lot of old and new designing. The touchscreen infotainment system is now bigger (10.9-inch) than its predecessor, but the cabin looks familiar. The automatic climate control system, controls for the heated front seats and redesigned gear selector are there too. The vehicle comes with a three-spoke leather steering wheel, using which the media system, cruise control, and drive modes can be controlled.

The brand new 911 Carrera S and 4S derive their power from a 3.0-litre flat-six turbocharged engine. It is capable of making a maximum of 450 PS of power, which then is sent to the wheels via a Porsche's PDK dual-clutch transmission. The S variant supports rear-wheel drive while the 4S features an AWD.

The 911 S can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.7 seconds, while the 4S takes just 3.6 seconds to hit the mark. There is also an optional Sport Chrono Package, which reduces this duration by 0.2 seconds. The S and the 4S variants come with a top speed of 306 kmph and 308 kmph, respectively.
