MG Cyberster electric roadster leaked in China

ABU DHABI: The teasers for the MG Cyberster EV car were released in 2022, but since then, nothing has been revealed about the car. But ahead of its formal unveiling, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has leaked photos of the upcoming roadster. 

The government document shows the car will be available in a choice of red soft-top and black roof treatments, red or silver brake callipers, three MG badge designs and two alloy wheel designs. The clean proportions and lines make the car look like a successor to the TF, MG's last roadster.

According to the report, the Cyberster will be offered in two powertrain options - dual-motor that is capable of making 536 hp and single-motor delivering 309 hp. The top speed of the MG Cyberster EV car is rated at 124 mph, and the curb weight is 4,376 pounds. 

The car reportedly measures 1913 mm wide, 4535 mm long and 1329 mm tall and rides on a 2690 mm wheelbase. 

The car is underpinned by MG's MSP modular EV platform, unveiled in 2022 and capable of supporting sports cars. It has not been revealed whether the steering 'yoke' revealed in the previous teaser will be optional in certain markets or will be standard equipment.

The Cyberster seems to rival sports cars like the Alpine or Lotus or entry-level Porsches like the Cayman. The sales of Cyberster will start around 2024 in markets where the company operates. It is not clear whether Cyberster will be released in the UAE or not.
