Land Rover gives a glimpse of upcoming 2020 Defender
ABU DHABI: What is more rugged than the current version of Land Rover Defender? Well, it is nothing but only the upcoming 2020 Defender. The teaser of the upcoming coaster landed recently, which vaunts the vehicle’s legacy of being a rugged beast. It reveals a single bar grille along with the bonnet covered in mud. The ‘DEFENDER’ and ‘LAND-ROVER’ badges are also there boasting Defender’s history of being one of the most popular offroading vehicles.
As known to us, the car is going to make its debut on 10th Septemeber (European time) during the first press day of 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. The released teaser not only asserts the well-known sturdiness of the nameplate but also confirms what we got to know from the earlier leaks as well as our expectations. The single bar grille design and the styling of nose match perfectly to what the leaks suggested us.
Apart from the leaks and teasers, the next big thing that deserves focus is that the company will take bookings of the new Defender right at the forthcoming motor show in Germany, where the vehicle is going to make its debut. Rumours are suggesting that the model to go on sale will be the midrange 110 and the customers will also have the option to choose between five, six or seven seating layout options. Furthermore, we can also expect that the smaller 90 variant will arrive in March next year, followed by the top-end 130 later in August.
It is also known to us that an all-wheel-drive system along with an automatic gearbox will be standard across all drivetrains. The Tata Motors-owned company is also rumoured to be working on extreme off-road and SVR versions of the vehicle but there is nothing much yet to confirm this.
