Kia teases Tasman pickup truck with a special camouflage

ABU DHABI: Kia has revealed the first official image of its highly-anticipated Tasman pickup truck, featuring a bold camouflage that is inspired by the rugged landscapes of Australia. It has been named after Tasmania and marks the debut of Kia in the C-segment pickup market.

The unique camouflage has been created in partnership with artist Richard Boyd-Dunlop who hails from New Zealand and Australia. The wrap underscores its adventurous spirit and is themed around ‘The Path Never Taken.’ The design visualizes outback and coastal journeys, the experiences of reflecting Boyd-Dunlop’s hitching rides across the country.

Executive Vice President and Head of Kia Global Design, Karim Habib praised Kia's innovation and Tasman's adventurous essence. The bold style of Boyd-Dunlop blends commanding blues with fiery outback hues, symbolizing the vibrant surf culture of Australia. Boyd-Dunlop’s design captures the adventure and joy intrinsic to Australian culture.

The Kia Tasman is scheduled for release in 2025 and will be rolled out in stages worldwide, starting in key markets such as Africa, Korea, Australia, and the Middle East. It has been designed to cater to both recreational and professional demands and assures adaptability, reliability, and performance.

Kia recently unveiled a short film wherein it unveiled the design inspiration behind the camouflage concept of Tasman. The video offers an insight into the truck's chunky tyres, eye-catching silhouette, and distinctive headlights. Though details have not been disclosed about its specifications, the teaser image has ignited anticipation for Tasman’s global debut.
