Kia issues recall notice for more than 1200 Sorento SUVs in Australia

ABU DHABI: The all-new Kia Sorento facelift made its way to Australia a few weeks ago. This updated model comes with various enhancements elevating the Sorento's appeal. Despite the excitement surrounding its release, it has been revealed that Kia is recalling over 1200 newly launched facelifted models of the Kia Sorento in Australia due to the fuel consumption label inaccuracies. However, Kia has assured the car owners that this defect can be addressed at home.

In the recall notice the affected vehicles have been listed as 2023 models, however, they are actually Kia Sorento SUVs facelifted versions– which are 2024 Model Year vehicles, deliveries of which started in recent weeks. A total of 1288 Sorento facelift units are affected by the recall. 

As per 81/02 Australian Design Rule, which governs Light Vehicles Fuel Consumption Labelling, the impacted vehicles do not comply with regulatory standards. Nevertheless, Kia has also assured the customers that there isn’t any safety risk to occupants or drivers due to this issue.

This recall is a big surprise for many owners, given the high expectations for the reliability and performance of Sorento. However, Kia is trying its best to address the issues, ensuring the satisfaction and safety of its customers.

Kia has said that all the affected owners will be contacted by mail. The mail will entail a replacement label having the correct information. With the recall underway, customers can be assured that all their concerns will be addressed promptly, allowing them to continue enjoying the Kia Sorento facelift’s benefits.
