The PBV system is categorized into three phases, starting with the Kia PV5’s introduction, an EV optimized for versatile applications and fuss-free operation. Phase two includes completing the model line-up, ensuring real-time vehicle updates, and enhancing user interaction with the use of AI-based platforms. The third phase includes building highly customizable mobility solutions and integrating a connected self-driving vehicle system in PBV models within a smart city operating system. Additionally, Kia will use "Easy Swap," which allows the chassis of a single vehicle to fulfill all kinds of mobility needs.
The PBV strategy of Kia features interchangeable 'life modules,' that allow the PBV to turn easily into a recreational vehicle, delivery van, or taxi. The Dynamic Hybrid body structure ensures that there is no compromise with rigidity. Kia is using recycled materials and bioplastics for environmental sustainability. The PBV ecosystem facilitates meaningful interaction among different models, offering different layouts. Kia is also planning to develop a robotaxi by collaborating with Motional.
