Kia EV9 wins two prestigious accolades at Good Design Awards 2023

ABU DHABI: Kia bagged two prestigious Good Design awards for the EV9 SUV in the Transportation category and for the EV’s infotainment system in the Interactive Media category. It recognises the brand’s commitment to engaging design rooted in the philosophy of 'Opposites United’. 

This design approach was revealed in 2021 and it draws inspiration from human contrasts and nature. It doesn’t just emphasize vehicle design but also shows the dedication to harmonizing environmental sustainability and human well-being. Initially, this philosophy was showcased in the EV6. By 2027, 15 fully-electric models in Kia’s lineup will feature this design concept.

While designing the EV9, Kia has emphasized simplicity. It features clear-cut surfaces and lines that convey clarity, confidence, and calmness. The distinctive 'Digital Tiger Face' gives the EV9 a futuristic and visionary aesthetic. Kia's designers have given the EV9 an appealing look by blending the robustness of an SUV with the agility of an EV while optimizing space utilization. The exterior design exudes the perfect blend of refinement and ruggedness, employing visual symbolism through triangles and polygons for a harmonious appeal.

The infotainment system of the EV9 has been named 'Ki' and it reflects the Opposites United theme. The system prioritizes vehicle-to-load and charging experience, offering a readable and intuitive interface with a display-optimized UI. The overall design aligns with Kia and enhances the experience of the user with contemporary graphics and eye-friendly colours.

The Good Design Awards program is in its 73rd year and is considered one of the oldest design competitions in the world. Each year, this award program recognises extraordinary graphics and product designs that set new benchmarks and drive innovation for competitive global products.
