Kia EV9 teased ahead of global debut
ABU DHABI: Kia has shared the images of the EV9, hinting at how it will look like. The teaser shows off a darkened silhouette and the front lighting scheme of the SUV. The zero-emission SUV will be unveiled in the first half of this year.
The EV9 SUV seems to be as large as the three-row Telluride. It has been designed to be a zero-emission alternative to Telluride. It will have shorter overhangs and a more spacious interior than the other gasoline-powered vehicles. From the front, it looks more muscular and has a concave body panel. The panel has a flashy cluster of lights that form a pentagon shape. The lower grille appears to be slightly bigger in the spy video.
The manufacturer has released two teaser videos and two teaser images ahead of the model's debut later this month. In the spy video leaked by the brand during a promo shoot, the final design of the SUV was shown. The final design is futuristic and appears close to the concept.
Its boxy and burly body will appeal to customers who love traditional SUV designs. The Kia EV9 will be the first model to feature a Level 3 system known as Highway Driving Pilot. This feature enables the car's self-driving systems to independently control it without any human involvement.
Kia has not yet revealed what size battery pack will be offered in the EV9, but as per a few speculations, it will utilize the E-GMP platform of the brand, which also underpins the current EV6. The powertrain output will be around 400 ponies in the top trim and 200 horses in the base model. It is also expected to provide an impressive electric range of up to 482 km on one full charge.
Kia has confirmed that it will reveal more of the exterior and interior of the car in the coming weeks.
