Jaguar ceases production of F-Type, XE, and XF models, embracing an electric-only future

ABU DHABI: Jaguar has discontinued the F-Type, XE, and XF models, marking the end of an era for its flagship sports car lineup and saloon. In line with this decision, the brand is aiming to transition to a fully electric future by 2025. Until then, the E-Pace, F-Pace, and I-Pace will be its sole offerings.

On May 22, 2024, the production of the ICE-powered F-Type sports car,  XF large sedan, and XE sedan was concluded at Jaguar’s factory. These models, lacking electric or hybrid options, signify the end of Jaguar's pure ICE lineup, with the XF and XE briefly offering mild-hybrid variants that did not provide electric drive to the wheels.

Notably, the I-Pace will be the last one to go out of production, expected early next year.

In 2025, Jaguar plans to introduce high-performance Battery Electric Vehicles as part of its 'Reimagine' strategy, transitioning to electrification. Starting from 2025, the company will exclusively offer electrified vehicles, aiming to launch nine new higher-priced models by 2030, targeting buyers in the Porsche and Bentley market segments.

Jaguar's UK Castle Bromwich plant where the F-Type, XE, and XF sedans are manufactured will make a shift in the upcoming months to manufacturing body panels for all models in the diverse lineup of Jaguar. The automaker will also overhaul its Halewood UK and Solihull plants to produce electric cars.

Jaguar will partner with Chery, a Chinese car manufacturer to share electric vehicle technology and platforms. Chery has a factory in Changshu, China that will be used by Jaguar for its future EV manufacturing. The partnership will utilize the Jaguar Electric Architecture, introducing battery-electric concepts like an SUV, a large sedan, and a four-door GT sports car.
