The name change to IONIQ 9 has been reported by the Korean Car Blog.
The IONIQ 9’s pricing strategy was confirmed indirectly by HMCA (Hyundai Motor Company Australia) COO John Kett, positioning it in Hyundai's SUV lineup as the flagship. The release timeframe of the IONIQ 9 will be similar to the smaller Inster electric SUV which is available at under $40,000 price tag. The pricing of the IONIQ 9 contrasts sharply as it is expected to be the most expensive model in the brand’s lineup.
The Hyundai IONIQ 9 will utilize the E-GMP EV architecture similar to the previous Ioniq models. Hyundai has not confirmed specific powertrain details but it is anticipated that it will have setups similar to the Kia EV9.
By the end of the decade, Hyundai plans to come up with around twelve EV models, utilizing a next-generation platform that will feature standardized motors and batteries.
