Hyundai Palisade SUV coming for 2018 Los Angeles Motor Show
ABU DHABI: The flagship SUV from Hyundai has finally been named. And with the naming, the Palisade (yes, that is the name) will be unveiled at the upcoming Los Angeles Motor Show towards the end of this month.
The new Hyundai Palisade was earlier shown as the Grandmaster concept at the Busan Motor Show 2018. It had a very upright stance if compared to any of the SUVs under production from the company, including the Tucson and the Santa Fe.
This new flagship model is a close sibling of the Kia Telluride, the concept form of which has a hybrid 3.5-litre petrol engine. The total power production with this engine is around 400 horses. Similarly, the Palisade might be getting a similar powertrain and a V6 setup. A front wheel drive mechanism is almost certain while an AWD is also speculated, considering its competition.
The revealed image from the company appears to be of the badging on the rear tailgate only, and hence, a lot of the details could not be extracted. However, we still know how the SUV would look like, thanks to the spy images from earlier. And based on these images, we can say that the squared-off design would be getting a huge cascading grille with slim and sharp headlamps, just like the ones on the Kona crossover than the Santa Fe.
Once the revelation is done at the Los Angeles Motor Show, it would go head-on against the Volkswagen Atlas and the Honda Pilot globally, the former of which is not on sale in UAE as of now. Interestingly, both these models are full-size SUVs with the front-wheel-drive mechanism. Plus, both of these models have the option for an all-wheel-drive as well. However, the Palisade could do one better by offering an 8-seater layout.
Hyundai has chosen the Palisade naming due to a good reason. According to the company, the name has been referred from the coastal cliffs and associated with the Pacific Palisades, which is a beautiful neighborhood to the southern part of California.
