Hyundai Ioniq 9 to be premiered this year globally
ABU DHABI: Three years back, Hyundai showcased the Seven concept which featured an all-electric powertrain and a lounge-like interior. Now the company will launch its production variant which has been named the Ioniq 9. Its dimensions are similar to the Hyundai Palisade and will utilize the new E-GMP platform of Hyundai, which also underpins the Ioniq 5 and other forthcoming Kia and Hyundai electric vehicles.

The design of the Ioniq 9 will be inspired by the Seven concept, with innovative elements like glass panels and unique lighting.The Ioniq 9 will feature a 99.8-kWh battery pack, with 383 hp dual-motor and 203 hp single-motor options. A high-performance N version is also expected to be launched, potentially utilizing the dual-motor 650 hp setup that has been used in the Ioniq 5 N.
The Seven concept had futuristic design elements such as glass panels, shape-shifting wheels, and unique lighting, hinting at the potential design of the Ioniq 9. While the design of the Ioniq 9 will be similar to the Seven concept, it won't feature rear suicide doors or frameless windows. It is anticipated that similar to the EV9 it will have a three-row layout.
The interior of the Ioniq 9 will bear lots of similarities with recent Hyundai models such as the new Palisade and Santa Fe, featuring faux wood and aluminium accents, soft-touch materials, and multiple screens. For climate and audio, physical controls will be used and for less critical functions you can use the touch panel. The gear selector would be a twisting dial on the steering column like the Santa Fe.
The Ioniq 9 is expected to be produced at Hyundai’s new EV Metaplant in Georgia. It will be unveiled later this year.
