BYD Seal U SUV revealed; delivers up to 500 km range

ABU DHABI: BYD has introduced an electric SUV named the Seal U which is based on the brand’s Seal sedan. With its introduction, the company aims to cater to the growing demand for EVs in regions like Europe that are at the forefront of the green mobility revolution.

The new electric SUV is ideal for families as it offers the perfect blend of comfort, advanced technology, and spaciousness with eco-friendliness. It is available in two trims: Design with an 87 kWh battery that offers up to 500 km range and Comfort, powered by a 71.8 kWh battery that offers up to 420 km range. Both these variants have been tested under the WLTP protocol. The Seal U comes with a cobalt-free BYD Blade Battery that has a high energy density.

The BYD Seal U impresses with its fast charging capability, reaching 80% in 30 minutes, with DC charging at up to 140 kW (Design) or 115 kW (Comfort) and AC charging at 11 kW. 

In terms of size, the EV measures 4,785 mm in length, 1,668 mm in height, and 1890 mm in width, and has a wheelbase of 2,765 mm.  

The BYD Seal U boasts LED lighting throughout, including fog lights, daytime running lights, and headlights for excellent visibility. It is equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels and comes with a remote control via the BYD app and an intelligent cockpit system. Notably, the BYD Seal U has vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality meaning it can serve as an excellent mobile power source for emergencies or external devices.

The BYD SEAL U has been meticulously designed to meet the needs of environmentally-conscious drivers and modern families. Its design embodies the right balance of function and form function, providing the perfect choice for those seeking both innovation and spaciousness in an electric vehicle. 

BYD will reveal the final pricing of the SEAL U closer to its launch, accompanied by a warranty package including additional coverage for the electric motor and battery and a 6-year/150,000 km manufacturer's warranty.
