Auto Expo 2020: Haval F7 unveiled, packs in advanced safety features
Chinese automobile manufacturer Great Wall Motors (GWM) has unveiled the Haval F7 midsized sports utility vehicle (SUV) at the ongoing Auto Expo 2020 in India. The car had its global premiere in 2018.
The GWM Haval F7 has sporty design elements, while its muscular character lines cover both the rear and front and wheel arches. The car, at the back, has a body-colored skid plate flanked by sporty vents. The wraparound taillights are connected with a chrome strip. The F7, in the front, sports a hexagonal grille, flanked by LED daytime running lights (DRLs), fog lamps, and a quad-headlight design.
The F7 comes with faux leather upholstery, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, and a panoramic sunroof. GWM has packed the car’s global-specification model with a number of advanced safety features that include a front collision alert system, parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree parking camera, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and up to six airbags.
The Haval F7 will be available in a choice of 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre petrol motors. Both will be turbocharged units and will be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). The 1.5-litre unit produces 150 PS maximum power and 280 Nm peak torque. The 2.0-litre engine outputs 190 PS maximum power and 280 Nm peak torque. The engines may get a choice of a manual gear system in some selected markets.
The GWM Haval F7 was first shown at the 2018 Moscow International Automobile Salon. The car has since sold 140,770 units making it one of the most popular SUVs in China.
The Haval F7, if it is launched in the UAE, will compete with the Hyundai Tucson and the Toyota Rav4. The company sells the H2, H6 and the full-sized H9 SUV in the Emirates. No GWM ‘F’ series car is currently available in UAE. The Haval H6 commercially debuted in September 2018.
