Ajman Police to install cameras to catch vehicles with expired registration
ABU DHABI: When you are considered as one of the world’s largest automobile markets, you have got to take up initiatives to make the roads cleaner from unauthorised or illegal automobiles plying. This is the exact thing that the authorities in the Middle East are up to. Some time back, Abu Dhabi initiated the idea and installed cameras that could be used to detect motorists who have their vehicle registration expired.
Following this pioneering idea, Ajman Police have also decided to install similar cameras to detect and punish such motorists. This system would be linked to the existing traffic camera network. The vehicles that are identified as guilty of expired registration would have a fine amount of AED 500 issues to its name along with other punishments like seven days of ownership impound and four black points (of course, to the owners).
The Deputy Director of the Police Operations in Ajman city, Khaled Mohammed Al Nuaimi (Lieutenant Colonel) has said that this new digital move by the authority will help save a lot of time and will also effectively strengthen the road rules and safety. He also did not miss the chance to urge all the motorists to renew the registration, in cases of expiration, just to stay safe from unnecessary fines and insurance claims and also from unfortunate accidents on the road.
These security CCTV cameras, to be installed in the Ajman emirate, will also help in enhancing the security and prevent a lot of criminal activities. After the roll-out of the system, the police authorities will deepen and widen the coverage and also improve the response time. Investigation and the abilities of tracking will also sharpen, along with the transparency improved.
Ajman Police says that this system roll-out will take place from July 1, 2018, and the widening of the coverage will continue to follow after.
