ABT Sportline reveals a hybrid version of RS6 with booster electric engine
ABU DHABI: ABT Sportline, the tuner of Audi, had released a teaser video for an attuned Audi RS6. This model seemed to be an electric model known as the RS6-E. The tuner company has now taken the covers off this car officially, showing that it is a hybrid car.
The Audi RS6 hybrid model by ABT Sportline is the first instance when the RS6 is being fitted with a hybrid technology. However, this of course, has the performance level of a supercar. Under the hood of the hybrid model, there is the same 4.0-litre V8, bi-turbo engine from the standard model. But it is the assistance of the electric motor that gets the power higher to a whopping 1,018 PS along with a humongous torque of 1,291 Nm.
The engine under the hood of the standard Audi RS6 is capable of making a maximum power of just 560 PS along with a peak torque of 700 Nm. ABT Sportline says that the increased power would help the car hit an acceleration of 0-100 kmph in just 3.3 seconds besides hitting a top speed of 320 kmph.
ABT Sportline has added quite a lot of mechanics to get the hybrid RS6 to make over 1,000 PS of power. The company added the Power R package that got the power to come up to 720 PS. Then, the addition of an electric motor worked as a booster and propelled the engine set to produce over a thousand PS. This electric engine itself is capable of making 288 PS of power.
ABT Sportline has even managed to keep the weight down to a great extent. For this, there is just one 13.6 kWh battery pack added. However, this pack is not as small as it appears as the electric engine works as a booster and works only above 100 kmph speed. This entire pack has made the car heavier by nothing more than 200 kgs only.
