2021 Jaguar F-Type breaks cover - Features new tech and V8 option

The new 2021 Jaguar F-Type in coupe and convertible versions have been revealed. Aside from some noticeable cosmetic changes on both outside and inside, the new F-Type gets advanced features and a new V8 engine option under the hood. Jaguar has also installed a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster on the 2021 F-type.

Talking about the exteriors, the brand’s designers have given it a new sculpted look with low-slung nose and restyled headlamps, which are also now sleeker than before and stretch in a horizontal fashion across the front. The bonnet has received a few changes to match the overall curvaceous appearance of the refreshed model. At the back, the changes are fairly less noticeable. The taillights are now more angular though. Depending on the powertrain option, diffuser and lower bumper continue to vary.

Inside, the conventional analogue gauges have made way for the new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system is now more advanced than before. It comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support and is capable of over-the-air software updates. 

Under the hood, while the 2021 F-Type carries over the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged and 3.0-litre V6 supercharged engines, the supercharged V8 5.0-litre gets some tweaks. The range-topping SVR that generates 583 PS of power and 700 Nm of torque is now available on the F-Type R variant. This can make it to sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.5 seconds before attaining its top speed of 299 kmph, which is electrically limited. 

A new V8 option that can churn out a max power of 450 PS and a peak torque of 580 Nm is available in Europe, mated to either an all-wheel-drive or rear-wheel-drive. This power unit can make it go from 0-100 kmph in 4.4 seconds. A Quiet Start function is a part of both V8 engines that keeps the active exhaust valves closed. The real sound can only be realised after the driver gets on the throttle. 

Underneath, the suspension has received some revisions. It features updated springs, adaptive dampers, stiffer components for ball joints and rear knuckles and reworked anti-roll bars. 

In the UK, the new F-Type coupe is priced at £54,060 (AED 257,738 approx). Pricing for other regions is yet to be revealed.
