2020 Land Rover Defender Lego leaked ahead of its official launch
ABU DHABI: The new Land Rover Defender Lego got leaked accidentally on a UK retailer's website before its official launch. However, the website soon rectified the error by deleting the information. The Defender’s Lego version will hit the market form October 2019 with a price tag of $293.
The model will be the first Technic model to get the olive green panels. The length of the model is 42 cm, the height being 22 cm and the width is 20 cm.
Designing wise, the Lego version does not match fully the styling of the real car, while it carries some of the designing cues of the production Defender. The production Defender will get a single-bar grille and round-shaped headlights. The lower front bumper has silver accents on it.
Just like the classic Defenders, the new car will feature a "power dome" on the hood. There is also a contrasting white roof, which is confirmed to be equipped on the new car. Also, there will be some smooth shoulder line and big fender flares just like we have seen already on the prototype versions.
However, the Technic kit also states that the new Defender will borrow the new Jaguar Land Rover’s inline-six cylinder engine. In the kit’s listing, it has been mentioned that there will be an in-line six-cylinder engine, which, however, is yet to be confirmed by the carmaker.
A Land Rover spokesperson failed to answer when asked about the Defender Lego kit. He only said that the brand is having a strong ongoing relationship with Lego and both the companies are jointly working on an array of exciting projects.
