On the inside, the Nissan GT-R Nismo comes with an all-black cabin with signature red accents on the door panels and seats with red stitching on seats and dashboard. The cabin also is blessed with Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and dashboard and carbon fibre bathed central transmission tunnel.

The rest of the cabin has been shared with the regular GT-R, which looks functional. Everything in the car looks and feels ergonomic to use, which is not the case with other supercars.

The centre console looks slightly archaic and unappealing, with the high mounted touchscreen infotainment system, complemented with a sound system from BOSE and integrated with performance dials as well. These dials keep a track on the ongoing performance with some really interesting data related to the engine on offer while on the go.

Talking about the interior space, the Nissan GT-R Nismo’s overall cabin feels ergonomic, with much easier ingress and egress as compared to other similarly specced supercars. The car gets a 2+2 seating layout, with the rear seats best reserved for kids.

With the GT-R Nismo, Nissan has managed to spice up the otherwise slightly dated design of the GT-R platform, which is now slowly showing its age.

At the front, the Nissan GT-R Nismo comes with the same inverted trapezoidal front grille from the regular GT-R. It gets a subtle looking chrome garnish at the upper portion in a V-shape design. The vertically stretched backwards headlamps with projector units and LED daytime running lamps do add some aggressiveness to the supercar when viewed from the front. There are subtle changes to the front bumper, which do get restyled air dams and carbon fibre front skirting.

From the sides, not much has changed in the profile of the Nissan GT-R Nismo, with the only significant changes being the new black colored RAYS NISMO 20-inch alloy wheels. The grey carbon fibre skirting, along with the sloping roof line, makes the car look distinctive and sporty.

At the rear, the Nissan GT-R’s iconic quad circular LED tail lamps are unmistakable, and make the supercar look recognizable even from a far distance. Adding some more pizzazz to the rear profile of the car is the carbon fibre boot mounted spoiler as well as underbody skirting.

The Nissan GT-R Nismo comes with double wishbone with aluminium (forged) upper links and lower arms at the front and multilink with aluminium (forged) upper links at the rear. The suspension gets normal spring rate stabilizer at the front and Bilstein adaptive DampTronic shock absorbers at both front and rear, which altogether make the overall driving dynamics of the supercar very engaging. Even the Brembo braking system with radially mounted callipers at front and rear, play a fair role in bringing the car from towering speeds to halt with accuracy and ease.

The Nissan GT-R Nismo source its power from the now-iconic hand-made 3.6-litre twin turbo V6 petrol engine, shared with the regular GT-R. Mated to a 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission, the engine, here in the Nismo version, is souped up to produce a higher power output of 600 PS and 652 Nm of torque.

With great power comes great responsibility. Which is why to complement the hyper-performance of the Nissan GT-R Nismo, the supercar comes equipped with safety features such as front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Control, front and rear parking sensors, reverse camera, and proximity radar with obstacle detection. However, the Nissan GT-R Nismo misses out on a number of sophisticated electronic driving aids which its European counterparts get, which is a big miss.

In this day and age of overuse of styling elements and electronic driving aids, the Nissan GT-R Nismo feels slightly old-school, as the basic design in and out has remained very much unchanged in all these years. However, for those who prefer functionality over form, the Nissan GT-R Nismo, with its added performance on tap and the precision in driving dynamics, makes a very strong case for itself.
