Abhishek Katariya says
The smallest car in Suzuki’s lineup in UAE, the Ignis tries to woo the young hearts with SUV-ish styling in a compact and user-friendly size. The Suzuki Ignis available in UAE is being offered in one standard GLX variant, which is offered with one petrol automatic powertrain and ten single tone and four dual-tone paint schemes.
Suzuki Ignis Interior & Features
On the inside too, the Suzuki Ignis has quirkinesses written all over it. The dashboard feels simple yet unique, which feels youthful. The dashboard, as well as door panels, do come with a dual-tone black and white layout, with the door grab handles and centre console coming with colour coded bits. However, some of the switches and fit and finish of some panels feel built to a cost.
The three-spoke steering wheel with audio and Bluetooth controls as well as a simple looking instrument console looks functional and informative with a MID screen inside the console. The protruding rectangular 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth looks good, which is flanked with rectangular AC vents. The corners of the dashboard have round AC vents.
The lower portion of the dashboard comes with a very cool looking unit for automatic climate control, with a propeller-like theme and toggle like switches. There is a functional glove box that is large and the cabin does get additional cupholders and door pockets, making the cabin feel practical.
While the Ignis might look small from the outside, the space on the inside is excellent with ample amount of headroom and legroom. However, the seats do lack under-thigh support a bit.
Ignis Exterior
The Suzuki Ignis did open a new door of the world of styling when it was launched for the very first time. With its compact yet heightened stance, the Suzuki Ignis has a quirky design which makes it look quite unique.
The Suzuki Ignis looks small yet butch with its wide look, which is characterised by the large and broad front black grille, which comes with a sleek chrome bar extending all the way to the inner edges of the headlamps, The headlamps are rounded from the bottom and come with LED projectors and U-shaped daytime running LEDs.
This entire fascia comes with chrome bordering adding some additional premium look to it. The front bumper too is loaded with character, thanks to the round fog lamps surrounded in chrome, inside big rectangular housings.
The side profile of the Suzuki Ignis looks very edgy, with angular glass windows and C-pillar at the rear. The blackened A and B pillars look nice, while the clamshell bonnet, body cladding running over wheel arches and lower edges of doors and roof rails give it a rugged character reminiscent of SUVs.
The Suzuki Ignis looks a bit weird from the rear, with the sharply raked windshield and tail lamp clusters which look a bit oversized for a car of this size. The flared wheel arches and very wide rear bumper make it look a bit disproportionate too.
Suzuki Ignis Ride & Handling
With Macpherson struts at the front and torsion beam at the rear, the Suzuki Ignis has got a very capable suspension to handle bad roads with ease, something which does get worthy assistance from 16-inch wheels and high ground clearance of 180mm. The light weighted steering makes handling this compact car even easier.
Ignis Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Suzuki Ignis sources its power from a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine which is coupled to a CVT gearbox as standard. The engine, which feels refined and responsive, belts out a maximum power output of 90 PS and a peak torque output of 113 Nm.
Suzuki Ignis Braking & Safety
The Suzuki Ignis is equipped with basic safety features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX mounts for child seats. However, it would be appreciable if it was packed with a few more features onboard.
Ignis Verdict
The Suzuki Ignis, despite its entry-level positioning, has a standout design with its compact size and high stance, which makes it look unique and look like a micro SUV. The performance, as well as handling, feels very easy for new drivers making it a very good option for first-time owners.
