Lotus EVIJA Expert Review

Like most hypercars, the Lotus Evija is a rare sight. It isn't a mass-produced car and is available only in limited numbers to preserve its exclusivity. The car is equipped with four electric motors, which itself makes the 2024 Lotus Evija the most unique car ever.

Lotus EVIJA Interior & Features

The cabin of the 2024 Lotus Evija is thoughtfully crafted. It's motorsport-inspired. The dashboard gets a 'floating wing' style. It merges with a 'ski slope-style' central console that comprises a number of touch-sensitive buttons with haptic feedback. The interior is entirely made of super-quality materials like Alcantara and exposed carbon fibre. While black Alcantara is the default, there are other colour options. Grey Nubuck leather, along with yellow-black bi-colour perforation is available. The Anodized aluminium inserts can be of silver, gold or black finishing. The multifunction squarish steering wheel controls all multimedia functions. The steering also houses the driving mode controllers. There's a large digital touchscreen unit that displays vital information. It's the only such unit in the cabin. The 2024 Lotus Evija comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. Lotus has also installed an onboard modem to connect to the cloud and download extra features.

EVIJA Exterior

The 2024 Lotus Evija is considered the epitome of automobile engineering. The car seems straight out of some sci-fi movie. The Evija's exterior design is inspired by sources as disparate as nature to the aeronautics industry. The well-defined lines and the overall fluid form are drawn from aeronautics. The 2024 Lotus Evija is considered by many to be a stunning piece of art. The body sits low over the 20-inch wheels. The front gets a sharp leading edge that extends to the hood. The vertical headlights get top-class laser light technology. The dihedral doors are handle-free. They are operated by a key-fob. But the 2024 Lotus Evija looks the most dramatic from the back. Each rear quarter gets Venturi tunnels to optimise airflow. Each tunnel gets a red LED edge that forges a stunning visual spectacle. The inside of the tunnels are illuminated via hidden LEDs. Lotus engineers have used active aerodynamics while designing the car. It includes an automatic drag reduction system and an active rear spoiler. The chassis and the entire bodywork are made of carbon-fibre.

Lotus EVIJA Ride & Handling

The 2024 Lotus Evija comes with a coupe cabin. Getting in and out of such a low-slung car is never easy. But the dihedral doors help.  The electrically adjustable front seats get carbon-fibre shells and thick pads swathed in microfibre. There's also manual for-aft adjustment. The seating style is visually appealing. Both seats get fully adjustable electronic lumbar support. The steering wheel's column in reach and rake are adjustable. Both seats get four-point harnesses. Legroom and headroom are sumptuous. The cabin gets two bespoke storage spaces near the hip points of the occupants. Other standard equipment comprises three-point seatbelts and climate control.

EVIJA Engine & Fuel Consumption

The 2024 Lotus Evija is equipped with four 375kW motors that produce a combined output of 1,972 PS/1,705 Nm, making it the world's most powerful car. The motors are powered by a 70kWh liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery. Lotus claims that the Evija returns a mileage of 250 miles. The steering wheel is super-light and responsive. The car comes with an artificial soundtrack to warn pedestrians of its approach and proximity. The Formula 1 style 'heave dampers' link the upper wishbones on either side. Even significant aero-squash can't ruin the car's ride quality.

Lotus EVIJA Braking & Safety

The 2024 Lotus Evija has all-wheel carbon ceramic disc brakes and electronic stability. A full-bore start produces a steam catapult sensation and launches the car aggressively. The brakes have a great bite. The tires have great traction and stop the car immediately.

EVIJA Verdict

The 2024 Lotus Evija is the only car of its kind and the most expensive hypercar ever. It will be available only in limited numbers. It's a car meant for collectors and the super-rich. Any buyer will hardly ever use it for racing.
