Introduction

The Lexus IS 300C is a convertible car from the brand's portfolio and it is limited to few countries only. The car has an ordinary looking face which matches to the styling that the brand stopped using a few years back. There are certain segments of this car which look outdated but somehow, the brand has managed to keep the product fresh. It was introduced for the first time in year 2006 after which the same model is restructured for the sedan outfit in year 2010. the engine under the hood is however, good to perform, but the dynamics are kept to make this car a good tourer instead of a sports convertible machine.

The Lexus IS 300C is powered by an impressive V6-24 valve engine with 3.0 liter capacity. This engine can churn out a maximum power of 228 hp at 6200 rpm along with a peak torque of 300 Nm at 4400 rpm. The 6 speed gearbox works smoothly with the engine and adds hassle free acceleration. The car can accelerate from naught to 100 km/hr in 7.7 seconds, clocking a top speed of 235 km/hr. The car gives a mileage of 10.3 kmpl which is not at all disappointing.

Exterior

Designing sculptures and order of equipment's assembly have been switched to a more up market level, but the alleged car seems to be left behind or is kept for a future makeover. However, the car isn't bad at all in looks and has the power to attract buyers. The convertible shape of the car is perfectly executed and when roof is switched on, the coupe outfit seems blended with the car's personality. The dimensions of the car are counted as 4635 mm of length, 1800 mm of width and 1415 mm of height. 2730 mm of wheelbase has been provided which is satisfactory. The 17 inch alloy wheels fits properly with the vehicle's dynamics while 225/45 R17 tyres adds firmness to the car's grip.

Interior

Just like the elegant exterior design, this car has been incorporated with extremely sumptuous interiors which will definitely not fail to impress you. The convertible nature of the car allows you to experience dual environment; the seats are made up of comfortable material and supportive from the sides. One can notice the familiar style which is usually seen in various other Japanese cars also. The dashboard could make you feel boring; it is not as well equipped and sharp as any other vehicle even from a class below. The touch screen infotainment system would remind you of the smartphones which were used decades back with resistive touch screens. The audio system supports USB/Aux input, Bluetooth connectivity and navigation system. There is space for only four passengers inside the car and the boot space is completely acquired by the convertible roof.

Safety, braking and Miscellaneous

The monocoque chassis of the stated car is made of high tensile strength steel and it is also been blessed with the Lexus' advance technology which commands over the force distribution during the collision or impact by making the cabin safe. It has a couple of safety aspects including ventilated disc brakes for all wheels, pre-crash safety system, vehicle stability control, supplemental restraint system, antilock braking system, electronic brake force distribution, knee-head-front-side airbags, vehicle dynamic integration system, day time running lights, etc.

Verdict

The Lexus IS 300C is a good car in terms of features, but still it lags far behind its rivals. The car runs smooth and reliability is also intact in it, but the competitors have a lot more to offer.
