Infiniti Q30 Expert Review
The Infiniti Q30 is a premium hatchback from the Japanese car giant that comes in three variant choices with two engine configurations. As mentioned above, the carline is spread across three grades, namely-Q30 1.6T, Q30 2.0T Premium, and Q30 2.0T Sport. These trims can be opted in nine different exterior colour options such as Majestic White (QAB), Blade Silver (KYO), Graphite Shadow (KAD), Liquid Copper (NAX), Ink Blue (NAJ), Chestnut Bronze (CAN), Pearl Black (Z11) and Black Obsidian (KH3). Sporting a large stance, this premium Japanese hatchback is 4,425 mm long, it is 2,083 mm wide (with mirrors) and is set 1,510 mm high (with roof-rails).
On the outside, the large premium hatchback gets a wide bonnet sporting sculpted lines. The face is highlighted by a rectangular mesh grille with Infiniti logo embossed in the centre, which is connected to the sleek pulled-back headlamps, featuring integrated daytime running lights. The bumper carries multi-slat air-intakes and fog lamps enclosed in blacked-out trims. In addition, it gets some bold styling elements that inject aggression such as thickly cladded wheel arches and large sporty alloy wheels. Also, the side panels feature sculpted lines, body-painted door handles and a tapered window line highlighted by a thin chrome accent. A prominent shoulder line runs across the length of the car that meets with the wrap-around tail-lamps. An integrated spoiler is set atop steeply raked-in windscreen; other styling bits such as chrome-tipped exhausts, reflectors and flexuous split tail-lights round up the rear styling.
The large cabin is built on a 2,700 mm long wheelbase that translates into a spacious cabin with ample room at front and rear. Enveloped in a dark shade, the Infiniti Q30 features silver trims around air-con vents, dashboard, gear-knob and doors. The stylishly designed dashboard gets multiple buttons and knobs for climate control, etc. On the feature front, the premium hatchback is fitted with a 7-inch LCD VGA touch-screen infotainment system with 2 USB ports with smartphone and iPod connectivity, Bluetooth connectivity with phone book functionality and voice recognition system. Additionally, there is a Bose premium audio system with 10-speakers, stop-start system, push-button ignition with illumination, etc.
The Infiniti Q30 is available with two engines including a 1.6-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged i4 petrol engine with 154 hp of top power at 5,300 rpm against 250 Nm torque between 1,250 to 4,000 rpm. This engine is available with the entry-spec variant, while the mid and top-spec trims are powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine tuned to make 208 hp of power at 5,500 rpm along with 350 Nm torque between 1,200 to 1,400 rpm. Both engines are linked to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Safety tech available on the hatchback include cruise control, lane departure warning, vehicle dynamic control, traction dynamic control, electronic brakeforce distribution, adaptive brake assist, 4-wheel anti-lock braking system, hill start assist, 7 airbags, rear view camera with front and rear parking sensors and display.
