BMW 4 Series Convertible

The interior setting of the BMW 4-Series Convertible looks plush with the dual tone paint scheme. The front section is very well clustered and informative for the driver. There is a digital display for driver right behind the steering wheel while the air vents are pretty large to offer maximum comfort. The floating display appears to be a pop-up unit due to its shape and placement.

The centre console is a very chunky area but is well settled. The infotainment system gets the BMW Navigation and connectivity with iPod, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity. The seats are wrapped in leather upholstery while the automatic air-conditioning system provides amazing comfort.

From the outside, with the hardtop roof in place, the BMW 4-Series Convertible has a perfect coupe-ish approach with a low and elongated roof. Up at the front, it has the signature kidney-grille with nine vertical slats. It runs on 17-inch alloy wheels as standard. However, the M Sport and Sportline get bigger 18-inch wheels as standard while the better 19-inch model can also be had in all the special trims too.

The front section has LED headlights and fog lamps. Being larger in dimensions than the outgoing convertible of the 3-Series, it offers better space management in the cabin. The hard top roof provides good protection in winters compared to the soft-top cars. Moreover, it can even be opened quick enough at around a speed of 18 kmph.

There is barely anything that can beat BMW in terms of the handling prowess. The 4-Series is just a joy to ride in both cities as well as on the open roads. The steering wheel feels so light and can be maneuvered well. The suspension setup is pretty much comfortable and isn't too hard. The automatic gearbox works extremely well and does not appear to be clunky at all, even while you are riding it in the stop-start traffic.

Both the engine trims have their top speed limited to 250 kmph. However, the bigger engine can make the 0-100 kmph acceleration in just around 5.5 seconds.

The BMW 4-Series Convertible is offered in two engine variants. The smaller 2.0-litre turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine is capable of making 240 horsepower and 345 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the bigger option is a 3.0-litre unit that comes with a turbocharger as well but with an inline 6-cylinder setup. The total power production stands at 300 hp while the maximum torque produced is 406 Nm.

As for the transmission, both units get the same options, that is, either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic.

Being a powerful luxury car, the BMW 4-Series has the safety concerned checked too. The wheels get disc brakes along with the added benefits of ABS and electronic brakeforce distribution. Plus, it has all the features that are given in the BMW standard equipment list, including airbags for the front and rear.

The BMW Active Cruise Control assists the driver to have a comfortable and safe driving dynamics even while cruising at high speeds.

The BMW 4-Series Convertible has been an immensely popular model and a worthy replacement for the 3-Series. It competes against the likes of the Audi A5 Cabriolet and the Infinity Q6 convertible. However, both of the cars are more affordable than the BMW itself, while the Infinity is much more powerful too.
