Volkswagen unveils the future of GTI with ID.GTI Concept
ABU DHABI: Volkswagen is planning to introduce 11 new all-electric models by 2027 to meet the diverse needs of the drivers. At the forefront is the ID.GTI, which debuted at the IAA Mobility car show as a concept car. This front-wheel-drive hatchback is inspired by the capabilities showcased by last year's ID.2all concept.

The ID. GTI is built on the standard ID.2's reduced MEB Entry platform. It has a large battery and a front-mounted electric motor. The battery is the same 56kWh pack that has been utilized in the ID.2. The body structure of the high-performance and standard ID.2 variants is the same. While the technical data is not yet available, the development of the ID. GTI is similar to the Cupra Raval, which offers exceptional performance. It offers an expected range of over 440 km.
Inside, the ID. GTI, you'll be greeted with classic GTI design elements like seats featuring chequered "Jack-e" upholstery, a three-spoke steering wheel with a red 12 o'clock marker, and a rotary dial reminiscent of a golf ball. You can also configure the 10.9-inch digital display in 'analogue' mode.
The ID. GTI can fit up to five passengers at one time. It provides 490 litres of trunk space, which can be expanded to 1,330 litres by folding the rear seats. Beneath the rear seat, there is a 50-litre lockable storage compartment for storing items like the charging cable.
The production version of the ID.GTI would be revealed in 2026 and be on sale in early 2027.
