Volkswagen integrates ChatGPT AI chatbot into its new models

ABU DHABI: Volkswagen revealed its latest lineup of vehicles that are equipped with a voice assistant leveraging AI technology called ChatGPT at the ongoing 2024 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. By incorporating ChatGPT's artificial intelligence technology into its voice assistant system, the German automaker aims to offer a more responsive, intuitive, and seamless interaction between passengers, drivers, and their vehicles.

The AI-based chatbot ChatGPT has been integrated into its IDA voice assistant present in models like ID.4, ID.7, ID.3, Passat, Tiguan, and Golf. This integration is very useful for the users as they can tap effortlessly into an expanding AI database. During the drives, the voice assistant can read researched content aloud during drives. You just need to press a button on the steering wheel or say a casual "Hello IDA", giving you control over different systems without the requirement for additional installations or accounts.

Volkswagen has become the first volume manufacturer that has standardized ChatGPT in the compact segment of vehicles. The German automaker has teamed up with Cerence to ensure that this tech functions smoothly, allowing drivers to use the AI-based research tool without any hassle. Together, they are dedicated to offering a user-friendly tech experience to the owners of Volkswagen cars.

Volkswagen ensures the users' privacy by guaranteeing that ChatGPT does not have any access to vehicle data. The responses and queries generated by the software are instantly deleted for responsible handling of information and to avoid any data breach.
