Toyota will reveal the IMV 0 concept at 2023 Japan Mobility Show

ABU DHABI: Toyota is all set to revolutionise the automotive industry with the IMV 0 concept. This is a pickup truck based on a ladder frame. It resembles the previously showcased Rangga concept in Indonesia. 

Toyota's IMV 0 concept will be revealed at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show, along with other futuristic concepts and a plethora of born EVs. The IMV 0 concept is a modular EV platform that can function as a van or little truck, depending on the needs of the customers.

The vehicle reflects the classic FJ40 Land Cruiser's enduring spirit, allowing for multiple configurations across different body styles, including a mountain rescue ambulance, a safari-ready motorhome, and an off-roader.

The concept vehicle is underpinned by the sturdy ladder-frame IMV platform's modified version, which has also been used in Toyota's other popular models like the Hilux and Innova Crysta currently on sale in India.

Toyota has not shared any details about the dimensions of the IMV 0 concept, but it is estimated that it will be more compact than the Hilux. Despite its compact dimensions, the IMV 0 concept resembles the Compact Cruiser EV concept, specifically with its handsome and boxy appearance.

For cost-effective market-specific models, Toyota's IMV 0 concept emphasizes retro styling. Toyota has not disclosed the powertrain details yet, but the IMV platform hints that it will feature a Rear-Wheel Drive setup with diesel and petrol engine options. Considering the platform's capabilities, there is the possibility of a competent off-roader akin to the Compact Cruiser.
