Toyota Supra will race in NASCAR Xfinity series

ABU DHABI: The memories of Toyota Supra’s stint at many motorsport events such as drag racing, touring car championships and drift competitions have stayed with us over the years. The scintillating reports of the top Japanese carmaker eyeing previously untouched realms has spectators excited in the United Arab Emirates. As things stand, the upcoming A90 Supra will take part in the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) and makes its debut on the racing track with the NXS race on 16th February 2019 at Daytona.

Any conversation on Toyota and cool cars will stir up the image of the Supra for many automobile enthusiasts. While most people were already excited after hearing Supra making its way back in production, the news of this legendary sports car has topped them all!

According to an official statement by Ed Laukes (Vice president, Marketing Division, Toyota); any race car is vital for the marketing efforts for the brand since it acts as a dynamic counterpart of its partner in the showroom. Moreover, he also added that Toyota is glad of their achievements with the Supra and are excited to hear racing fans unite across the world to cheer for its performance at NXS.

The Toyota A90 Supra is a joint effort led by Toyota Racing Development, USA and Calty Design Research since a few modifications had to be made to ensure that the Supra fits the specifications expected of a race car competing at the NXS. Both these teams have expertise in designing race cars, boasting of their work with the 2018 Camry NASCAR Cup car that won the Cup Series Championship last year, which is the top level circuit in NASCAR.

Further, the president of TRD, David Wilson added that they have had a successful time working with Calty to produce race cars that can match the looks and excitement of their showroom counterparts. He also spoke of his confidence in the two who have developed Supra, a race car built to win races and championships. Supra’s participation in NASCAR reflects the importance of this vehicle amidst the Toyota Racing Development and they believe that the Supra is a bonafide winner!
