Toyota is the most searched car brand on Google in 2022
ABU DHABI: For those who are unaware, Compare the Market is an Australian comparison website that conducts surveys from time to time and lets people know about the latest trends. Recently, the company released its latest rendition of the most searched cars research, which reveals that Toyota is the most searched car brand globally in 2022. The Japanese automaker gets this title for the third consecutive year.
In the sixth iteration of its yearly poll, Compare the Market found the top well-liked companies in 155 countries using information from Google Trends for 2022. Toyota was the most searched-for car brand in 69 of the 155 countries and accounted for 44.5% of all searches with a hike of around 10% over the previous year.
As per Compare the Market’s General Manager of General Insurance, Adrian Taylor, the study can be taken as an indicator of what people are driving on the roads. “Typically, search results give an indication of what people are interested in and may not always be aligned to what people are driving,” Taylor explains.
Toyota has also been named as the most dependable car brand of 2022 by consumer non-profit organisation Consumer Reports. Moreover, it is also the most recognised automaker in Australia, according to a study conducted by market research firm Roy Morgan.
Mercedes-Benz and BMW followed Toyota in the list of most searched car brands The German automakers have continuously been in the top three since Compare The Market began monitoring search trends in 2018, although it appears Mercedes may be sliding.
Mercedes saw a decline from 23 to 10 countries in 2022, whilst BMW saw a rise from 29 to 36 countries, where it was the most sought-after automaker. While globally recognised brands like Toyota, BMW, and Mercedes are well-known everywhere, certain brands are more well-known in specific regions.
Some countries in the Middle East and North Africa are huge Kia supporters. It was the brand that people sought out most in Egypt, Jordan, Libya, Palestine, Syria, and Uzbekistan. Additionally, it was the brand that people most commonly looked up to in other countries, including Vietnam, India, and Ecuador.
Volvo is well-liked in Scandinavia and the surrounding regions of Europe. Tesla dropped off the list in 2022 because no countries nominated it as their top carmaker. Off-road king Jeep made the list of the oddest sought-after car manufacturers, according to Compare the Market Australia.
