ABU DHABI: It's celebration time for compact sports car enthusiasts as rumours hint at the return of the Suzuki Cappuccino after 26 years. The comeback of this cult classic involves a partnership with Daihatsu and Toyota, promising the fusion of contemporary engineering and nostalgic charm.

As per the speculations, the revived Suzuki Cappuccino will make its debut by 2027.The Suzuki Cappuccino was originally produced from 1991 to 1998. It was designed as a Kei car specifically for the Japanese market. Its powertrain and compact size adhered to Kei car regulations garnered a huge fan base drawn to its exceptional driving capabilities despite its modest performance.
The new Suzuki Cappuccino is likely to be equipped with a larger 1.3-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine, marking an upgrade from its predecessor which had a 657cc unit. Derived from the engine found in the GR Corolla and GR Yaris, it is anticipated to generate approximately 110 kW. This represents a significant increase over the original Cappuccino's 47 kW output, potentially appealing to a new generation of drivers with its enhanced performance capabilities.
The new Cappuccino will measure about 1700 mm in width, 4000 mm in length, and 1230 mm in height, retaining its predecessor’s compact dimensions. It will weigh around 1100 kg and will impress everyone with its dynamic driving and agile handling. Transmission options may include an eight-speed automatic and a six-speed manual.
The 1.3-litre engine used by the Cappuccino will not be solely for this variant. As per reports, this engine will also be utilized by Toyota in a new entry-level sports car. As per the speculations the revived Suzuki Cappuccino will make its debut by 2027.
