Subaru’s new Viziv Adrenaline concept
ABU DHABI: Last month the Japanese automaker, Subaru teased us with an image of a crossover, this has now seen the light of day at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. There have been many wild concepts at Geneva this year, but the one from Subaru is somewhat modest. Adrenaline is the name given to this concept while Viziv means ‘Vision for Innovation’.
This concept is the 7th in Subaru’s Viziv series, the first of which was unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. In 2018, Subaru showcased the Viziv Tourer, but it never went into production. It seems like between the Viziv Tourer and Viziv Adrenaline, Subaru is looking to take more risks in the styling than it has in the recent past.
The Adrenaline has a jacked up ride height and big fender flares, somewhat resembling the Subaru Crosstrek. You’ll find LED lighting on both the front and rear with large plastic bumpers that actually wrap upwards towards the headlights, protecting the face when going off the beaten path. The silver accented contrasting roof adds a nice floating touch. Although the concept is not a preview for any production model, it showcases Subaru’s new bolder design language which will replace the current ‘Dynamic x Solid’ philosophy.
There was no word on the power plant for the Viziv Adrenaline, but it could most likely use Subaru’s typical boxer engine, with power being sent to all four wheels via the company’s Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive system.
Based on the size and styling, the Viziv Adrenaline could possibly hint at the next Crosstrek. The current generation of which debuted at Geneva two years back. It will be interesting to see how the new concept turns out, and hopefully, it will become a production model in the near future. It seems to be interesting times ahead for Subaru.
