Subaru BRZ gets an update for 2025

ABU DHABI: Subaru has unveiled the updated BRZ in Japan. The updates to this vehicle mirror those seen in its twin, the Toyota GR86. Key highlights include revised steering and suspension, updated daytime running lights, and the addition of a new Sport Mode for manual BRZ models.

Since its introduction in 2021, the second-generation Subaru BRZ has gone through several changes, including the EyeSight ADAS package’s addition to manual variants last year. The latest improvements have been made to improve handling, highlighted by a tweaked electric power steering assist and optimized damper settings. These updates aim to sharpen handling and improve ride comfort. 

The suspension changes have been specifically incorporated into the Cup Car Basic, S, and R variants, while the STI-tuned dampers are still retained by the STI Sport variant.

Visually, the main update is the adoption of daytime running lights across all variants except the Cup Car Basic. The cabin design remains unchanged, except for a revised turn signal stalk and the addition of a new Sport Mode button. The latter is exclusively for manual BRZ models, boosting the cabin presence of the Active Sound Control system. Meanwhile, adjustments have been made to the automatic transmission to enable higher RPM manual downshifts.

The powertrain remains unchanged despite speculations about updated ECU settings. The 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated boxer engine will continue to produce around 232 hp (173 kW / 235 PS) and 250 Nm of torque. Because of this, the manual version will retain its 6.6-second performance figures for the 0-100 kmph sprint and 226 kmph claimed top speed.
