Skoda reveals its new compact SUV named Kylaq
ABU DHABI: Skoda has named its first-ever compact SUV "Kylaq." It is anticipated to make its debut in early 2025. This name was chosen via a public contest that required the name to end with 'Q', start with 'K', and consist of only two syllables.

The Kylaq will be powered by the same 3-cylinder 1.0-liter TSI petrol engine that is present in the Slavia and Kushaq.From over 200,000 entries, 'Kylaq,' was chosen as the winning name. Its name has been derived from the Sanskrit word for crystal. The contest winner will be gifted the Skoda Kylaq when it debuts. Ten more winners will go on a trip to Skoda Auto in Prague, including a tour of the city and Skoda Museum. The winners will be announced on the social media channels of Skoda Auto India.
Although Skoda has not revealed the design of the Kylaq fully, spy shots and teasers suggest it will retain Kushaq’s design elements, including the alloy wheels, front design, and taillamps. It is based on the MQB-A0-IN platform and has similar front doors to the Kushaq but the rear doors are shorter, along with distinct fender shapes and high ground clearance.
The Kylaq’s interior is well-appointed and it features the same 10.25-inch infotainment system that is found in the Kushaq, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. Higher trims will have amenities such as wireless charging, automatic climate control, a sunroof, and ventilated seats.
The Kylaq will be powered by the same 3-cylinder 1.0-liter TSI petrol engine that is present in the Slavia and Kushaq. It offers around 114 bhp and 178 Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed torque converter automatic or a 6-speed manual.
