Second-gen Mercedes-Benz CLA to be uncovered at CES 2019
ABU DHABI: The German automaker, Mercedes-Benz has cleared its plans of bringing in the new and updated CLA at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas that starts 8th of January 2019. Though it’s not a car show, the company said to be doing the unveil formalities at the tech event.
This is not the first time that Mercedes-Benz will mark its presence at the event. Last year it unveiled the new Mercedes Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment interface that later became a part of the A-Class. The same infotainment system is expected to feature on the new CLA as well.
The system is intuitive, smart, and comes with the self-learning AI (Artificial Intelligence) capability that not only remembers and caters to users according to their preferences but enables them to adjust seamlessly. Some notable features it comes with are vehicle tracking module, 3D navigation, advanced voice command with speech recognition, and an alluring heads-up display.
Ahead of the event, Mercedes-Benz has started the teasing game on social media. It, recently, shared a photo on Instagram showing the evident coupe-like roofline of the new CLA. The caption of the post read, “The new Mercedes-Benz CLA celebrates its world premiere at the CES in Las Vegas on January 8, 2019.”
The details about the CLA are still very limited. What we know or anticipate is that the CLA would share interior cues with the recently launched A-Class along with the engine and transmission options.
The new A-Class is powered by four-cylinder, turbocharged 2.0-litre engine that pumps out 190.6 PS of max power and 299.6 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission system. We expect the new CLA to be more refined and responsive considering the fact that it slots above the A grade vehicles.
From the camouflaged pictures captured earlier this year, it can be inferred that the new CLA will feature upswept headlamps, a bolder and a sharper front grille and new restyled taillights.
For more details, we have to wait until January 2019 when the suspense about the sedan unfolds. Stay tuned with us for more information and auto updates.
