Rolls Royce brings elements of haute couture to Phantom Syntopia
ABU DHABI: Rolls Royce has created a bespoke version of its Phantom, which is an Haute Couture-inspired masterpiece.' It is a clear statement of the British luxury automobile maker's standing as a true luxury house.
Rolls Royce unveils its one-off creation inspired by shapes and patterns found in nature. It has been entitled as the most technically complex Phantom ever produced. The one-of-a-kind Phantom has been named after famous fashion designer van Herpen's landmark 2018 collection. It has been built on two decades of undertakings with celebrated design houses, jewellers, artists, and horologists.
The car follows the Haute Couture fashion philosophy and the innovation of fashion designer Iris van Herpen. Van Herpen said the main intent behind this car was to create the feeling in the driver that they were being surrounded by the unique forces of nature.
The paintwork on the car is more like a piece of art, and the company took several months for its validation and testing. The iridescent paint of the car has gold, magenta, and blue undertones. The hood features a rendering of the Weaving Water motif. The 'Weaving Water' theme is prevalent throughout the Phantom's dashboard. The motif was achieved by combining lacquer and multiple coats of paint containing different quantities of glass particles. The custom headliner has been crafted using a leather sheet selected from over a thousand hides. It also features a 3D design that has been created with the help of woven nylon fabric.
The car also features 162 delicate petals that took van Herpen's team 300 hours at Rolls-Royce's factory and thousand sparkling fiber-optic "stars" inside. Installing the headliner took around 700 collective hours of work.
The highlight of this car is its bespoke scent that enters the cabin through a scent-releasing mechanism. Phantom Syntopia elevates fashion trends to new levels. From conception to completion, it took four years to produce this car. After four years of continuous development, it is complete and will be seen in the private collection of brand patrons.
