Porsche Taycan to cost more than the Tesla Model S
ABU DHABI: Porsche is ready to roll out its first fully electric sports car, the Taycan in the US in three different variants, namely Taycan, Taycan 4S and Taycan Turbo. This comes after the ‘Porsche Global Brand Ambassador’ sent an email to The Drive’s Alex Roy who is an endurance racer and has set multiple rally racing records.
The email has been sent to potential customers who are in the middle of completing the formalities to place their upfront deposits on the Taycan and Roy is one of them. According to the email, the new Porsche Taycan will be offered in three variants as we have already mentioned above. To make it clear, the Turbo variant won’t be featuring a turbocharger. The name Turbo does not refer to any performance boost here, rather it is more of a reference to the top-of-the-line model.
The email also had tentative pricing for the different variants. The Taycan base model will retail for around USD 90,000 (AED 330,592), the mid variant 4S will carry a price tag of close to USD 100,000 (AED 367325), and the topmost variant, the Taycan Turbo will retail at a price of more than USD 130,000 (AED 477,522). It is to be noted that these prices do not include any add-ons.
Based on this, it can be inferred that the new Porsche electric sports car will be a touch more expensive than the market leader and the prime competitor to Porsche Taycan, the Tesla Model S by around USD 8,000 (AED 29,386). Let's see when Porsche adds the Taycan to its lineup in other markets like UAE.
