Porsche celebrates 75th anniversary by unveiling Mission X Concept

ABU DHABI: Porsche is embarking on a groundbreaking venture called the Porsche Mission X to mark its 75th anniversary. The Mission X reinterprets a hypercar with an efficient electric powertrain and a breathtaking design. The electric hypercar concept has been designed as the spiritual successor of the 918 Spyder and Carrera GT.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What are the estimated dimensions of the Porsche Mission X concept?

The Porsche Mission X concept is 78.7 inches wide and 177 inches long and has a wheelbase of 107.4 inches.
  • When will the production car based on the Mission X concept appear?

Any production car based on the Mission X concept will appear around 2027.
  • The concept hypercar has Le Mans-style doors that open to the front. It also has an efficient electric powertrain. It will feature a reworked Porsche’s ‘four-point’ light graphic. It will also have vertical headlights consisting of framed LED light modules.

The Mission X is 78.7 inches wide and 177 inches long and has a wheelbase of 107.4 inches. Staggered 21-inch wheels at the rear and 20-inch wheels at the front improve the aerodynamics.

The Mission X will charge twice as fast as the Porsche Taycan Turbo S as it has a 900-volt system architecture. Taycan Turbo S charges up to 275 kW, but the new hypercar is estimated to advance into the range beyond 500 kW.

The highlights of the interior include:

    • Motorsport-style asymmetrical layout
    • Racing seats featuring six-point harnesses
    • Motorsport-style open-top steering wheel with paddle shifters
    • Numerous built-in cameras activated by a special record button
    • A ‘bayonet system’ on the passenger side

Porsche has not revealed Mission X’s powertrain details, but they have outlined their technical goals. These include the Nurburgring lap record target that is currently held by the Mercedes-AMG One. The engineers are focusing on lightweight design and efficiency.

Any production car based on the Mission X concept will appear around 2027.
