Porsche Cayenne Coupe to see the light of day in 2019
ABU DHABI: According to a publication group, Porsche Cayenne Coupe has been granted a green signal by the Porsche CEO, Oliver Blume. The coupe-style SUV will now be a part of the Porsche lineup challenging the likes of other German players of the market including the Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and the Audi.
The Cayenne Coupe will be based on the third-gen Cayenne with the front being almost the same while the rear to be designed in a tapered fashion to give it a coupe-like look. However, the front bumper is expected to receive some sort of exclusivity. In the process of making a rakish back, the Cayenne Coupe would definitely add a touch of sportiness but would also reduce a considerable amount of cargo space. At the back, the new coupe would get the tail light design inspired by the Porsche Panamera.
Talking about the engine department, the new Porsche Cayenne Coupe will be offered in two engine choices. One will be a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine sourced from the Cayenne S that is capable of producing a max power of 446 PS while the other will be a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine that generates 558 PS of max power. The company is comfortable offering petrol engines as of now and diesel-engined versions are yet not planned. Both the models are anticipated to come with an 8-speed automatic transmission system.
There is a possibility of the new Cayenne Coupe to go on sale in the UK in the last quarter of 2019. Once launched, it will challenge the likes of the BMW X6, Audi Q8, and the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. However, the company has been lip-locked on the entire matter and we are yet to hear an official statement from Porsche. Till then stay tuned for more news and updates on the upcoming Cayenne Coupe.
