Nissan Terra made its global debut
ABU DHABI: Nissan has been releasing spy shots, teasers, and initial studio shots of Nissan Terra for quite a long time. Now, this 7-seater SUV has been finally released with its first on-location images.
Ashwani Gupta, Nissan's Senior Vice President for their Light Commercial Vehicle Business which the Terra is classified under, has stated, “The Nissan Terra builds on our strong SUV heritage while incorporating the needs of the Asian customer and the performance of our refined frame vehicles. The Terra is a descendant of the Nissan Patrol, our tough off-road icon originally designed for police and military use."
This all-new Nissan car can be seen sporting strong design characteristics including the signature V-motion grille of the brand along with a pair of headlamps with “boomerang” LEDs, the muscular shape and haunches, and the very tall stance.
The car is being said to be a bigger version of the Nissan Navara. Just like the Navara, Terra can be seen equipped with a strong design that is backed up by the ladder frame chassis that it rides on as well as the 5-link coil spring rear suspension.
A strong combination of suspension set up along with the four-wheel drive powertrain ensures that the Terra is able to perform in a powerful way even in rough terrain and can be thereby, taken off the road. To demonstrate this precise capability, Nissan has released a video which shows the car being taken on difficult terrain yet performing well.
Pedro Deanda, Nissan's Chief Product Specialist for the Terra, said, “We made an effort to put all the knowledge and history of the Patrol in this project. That heritage was utilized to make a truly capable vehicle.”
The Terra sports a range of smart features including the Zero Gravity front seats for comfort, a 4WD Diff lock feature, Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist, just like the ones present in Navara. Many new specifications like the Intelligent Mobility safety suite with Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, the Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, as well as Intelligent Emergency Braking, have also been introduced.
The 2018 Nissan Terra will be showcased at the Bejing Auto Show in few weeks. Nissan has declared in a statement that the Terra will be launched in other Asian markets later this year only.
