Next-gen Peugeot 408 arrives in the Korean market

ABU DHABI: While Peugeot has been recording new highs in European sales, it has been losing popularity in Korea. As per the Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association data, overall sales of Peugeot dropped 15.3 per cent in 2022 compared to the previous year. Peugeot aims to expand its presence in Korea by launching the new Peugeot 408. In the Asia Pacific region, Korea is the first market where the new Peugeot 408 has been launched. 

Peugeot CEO Linda Jackson said at the launch event that “the direction in Korea can undoubtedly have a halo effect in other global markets, which is why we swiftly introduced this model in Korea.” 

The new Peugeot 408 is being offered in two variants in Korea- GT and Allure, priced at KRW 46.9 million (approx AED 129,612.88) and KRW 42.9 million (approx AED 118,558.48), respectively. 

Peugeot 408 is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder Puretech engine that generates a peak torque of 230 Nm and a maximum power of 131 PS.

Depending on the variant, the car is outfitted with LED ambient lighting, a 3D instrumental panel, LED tail lamps, a 10-inch infotainment unit, a heated steering wheel, hands-free access, and wireless Apple Car Play.

The Peugeot 408 is available in the UAE in two variants- 408 GT and 408 Allure. It measures 4687 mm in length, 1848 mm in width and 1486 mm in height. It has a load capacity of 536 litres. The combined fuel consumption is estimated around 14 kmpl.
