New-gen Honda Jazz officially revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show
Takahiro Hachigo, Honda President presented the new Jazz, also known as the Fit in some part of the world, at the Tokyo Motor Show. The hatchback’s leaked images have already circulated the Internet. The fresh avatar of the hatchback looks smoother than the previous iteration, which flaunted its edges handsomely.
The front fascia gets zero sharpness, instead, it gets a rounded bumper design, colour-keyed grille, U-shaped DRLs and curvy-looking brand’s H emblem. The quarter window is now larger than before accounting for better visibility. The roofline gets curvier, while the flanks are now more upright than its predecessor.
The alterations at the back are as unique and unexpected as they are at the front end. The taillights are now wrap-around units instead of the upright tail lamps, the tailgate gets a low liftover with a wide opening.
Honda said that the new Jazz is an evolved avatar offering enhanced comfort across four ‘dimensions’. It also mentioned that the thinning of A-pillar will help improve corner visibility. The new Jazz comes with body stabilizing seats that are meant to enhance comfort. The rear seating is cushioned with extra padding for a better experience. Also, the new Jazz doesn’t miss out on substantial cargo space, which can be extended by folding down the rear seats.
The new-gen Jazz would also be benefitted from Honda Sensing Safety system and hybrid system. Under the hood, it is expected to carry -litre turbocharged VTEC engine with the ability to churn out a max power of 120 PS. Though, the final word about the engines is yet to come out.
Honda revealed that the new Fit will be offered in five different variants in Japan, including Fit Basic, Fit Home, Fit Ness, Fit Luxe and Fit Crosstar. While the Fit Home will have more premium features and touches than the Fit Basic, including soft-touch materials, leather steering wheel, better fabric upholstery, the Fit Ness will come with visual enhancements, sportier wheels and contrast-coloured A and D pillars.
The deluxe model of the line-up is the Fit Luxe with chrome-plating, aluminium wheels of 16 inches and more. The Crosstar, on the other hand, is more like a crossover with a different set of wheels, black cladding and water repellent fabric inside the cabin.
It is yet to be known when the new-gen Jazz will make its way to the UAE market. We’ll keep you posted about the same, so stay tuned with Zigwheels UAE.
