More powerful BMW M2 CS Revealed; Takes cues from the bigger M4
ABU DHABI: The Bavarian motor company, BMW, is not far behind any other premium automaker when it comes to taking on the market with newer products. Just a few days back, BMW M2 CS was leaked on the internet, and now, the company has made it official.
With the official unveiling of the BMW M2 CS, we now know that it is more powerful than its standard version. But when it comes to the aesthetic changes, the new car is slightly different from the other 2-Series coupes. The kidney grille up front gets a complete black treatment and appear to be slightly bigger as well. The rear also accommodates minor changes in order to fit in a new exhaust system. The car rides on 19-inch alloy wheels, which are lightweight. The front corner intakes are larger, which makes the car more aerodynamic.
The mechanism under the hood of the new BMW M2 CS is derived from the M4. The 3.0-litre, inline, six-cylinder engine now comes with a twin turbo tuning. This mill is capable of making a maximum power of 410 bhp along with a peak torque of 550 Nm. This means it makes 40 bhp and 85 Nm more than the standard M2. The power is sent down to the wheels via a dual-clutch and a 6-speed manual unit.
With that kind of power being generated from the motor, the BMW M2 CS can hit an acceleration of 0-100 kmph in just 4.2 seconds in the dual-clutch trim and 4.4 seconds in the manual transmission trim. The top speed is limited to 250 kmph. However, the company offers the M Driver Package, which takes the top speed higher to 280 kmph. However, the acceleration figures are untouched in this package as well.
Inside the cabin, the BMW M2 CS is similar to the standard M2, apart from a few minor changes here and there. The instrument cluster gets a full-digital touch. There are carbon fiber inserts all around the cabin and has the special M car seat belts which are in blue, red and purple colours.
