Mitsubishi introduces new 7-seater SUV Concept, the DST

ABU DHABI: At the Philippine International Motor Show 2024, Mitsubishi Motors revealed its all-new DST seven-seat SUV concept. Aimed at those in need of a comfortable and spacious three-row SUV, the DST boasts a midsize body that is built on a monocoque platform, easily accommodating seven passengers.

The Mitsubishi DST concept will lead to a three-row SUV targeting markets where the Xforce is sold, such as Indonesia and other ASEAN nations. This extended variant offers customers an alternative in the segment, positioning Mitsubishi’s model as a counterpart to the Hyundai Alcazar.

According to the initial images, many of the design elements of the DST are similar to the Xforce, featuring a longer wheelbase. The styling is similar, with substantial body cladding and large alloy wheels enhancing its SUV appeal.

The interior of the DST boasts soft-touch materials and multiple shades with a new two-spoke steering wheel. Some gauges and controls seem to be overly conceptual and will be replaced for production with conventional options. The DST will share an 8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with the Xforce.

While details about the powertrain have not been provided yet, the production model is likely to utilise the 1.5-litre petrol engine similar to the Xforce. With the CVT automatic gearbox available as standard, the SUV features four drive modes - Gravel, Mud, Normal, and Wet.

Since Mitsubishi is completely focusing on ASEAN markets, the DST may not be introduced any time soon in the UAE.
